The two things that matter with an oven mitt are cuff length (how far up your forearm it protects) and grip. Silicone shells resist heat and wipe clean but are bulkier; quilted fabric mitts are more dexterous but shouldn't touch anything wet or very hot for long.

A waterproof, textured-grip silicone mitt at a low price. Bulkier and less dexterous than a fabric mitt, and the cuff is shorter than dedicated long-cuff designs, so deep oven reaches still expose part of your forearm.

Sold as a single mitt, so plan to buy two. The silicone is more flexible than most budget mitts, and the grip texture holds onto smooth bakeware well, but it doesn't have the long forearm coverage of pro-style mitts.

A classic quilted cotton mitt that's comfortable to wear and machine washable. Cotton conducts heat faster than silicone once it's been in contact with a hot pan for more than a moment, and it should never be used damp.

The long cuff extends past mid-forearm, which matters if you're reaching deep into a hot oven to a back rack. The quilted cotton lining under the silicone shell adds comfort, but the extra bulk makes fine handling, like adjusting a piping bag mid-task, awkward.

A flexible fabric and Kevlar-blend glove that lets you grip and maneuver almost like a bare hand, better dexterity than any silicone mitt. It is not waterproof and shouldn't be used to grab wet pans or liquid-filled dishes straight from a water bath.
